peace on earth with peace in earth.

So I attended the AWAKENING THE DREAMER symposium yesterday and it was utterly mind-blowing to the highest extend. The whole seminar was a real eye-opener for me, or more like a harsh awakening. Either way, it was definitely a kick of realization in the center of my stomach, right in the gut. The atmosphere of the room was remarkable, each and every single person in that room wanted to make a difference in the world, all of them believed that there still is hope in this earth that’s currently in the midst of mass extinction. So basically the whole purpose of the symposium was to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritual fulfilling, socially justice human presence on this planet. Its essential for us to be aware of our current global crisis and to take responsibility for our actions.

Where are we now In terms of environmental sustainability? 70% of the earth’s forest is eliminated, 30% soil erosion, 150 dead zones, and 90% large fishes gone. The rate of cancer has also doubled. These are all consequent to rapid industriasation. Where as in terms of social justice, we humans are separated by class and race. Its not just the resources that are wasted, but people too. Certain societies are facing all kinds of problems such as respiratory illness, asthma and also 1/3 less lung capacity in which is mainly caused by the amount of toxins that are present in the air. These under-privileged societies deserve a chance to live life to the fullest and their land shouldn’t be exploited by ignorant fools. This matter closely relates to the current global situation of the well privileged generally having a mindset of the right not to know, not being bothered about the problems the earth is facing, socially and environmentally. These mindsets should be extinguished and people need to change the way they think. Lastly in terms of spiritual fulfillment, its pretty simple, what is happening externally reflects to what is happening internally. The majority of us choose to deal with emptiness or whatever that’s happening on the inside by trying to fulfill ourselves with materialistic things. This culture of mass consumption and hyper consumerism not only induces an environmental crisis but also a spiritual one as well. We humans need to learn how to ‘inter-be’ with each other and everything else around us.

the majority of us are unconscious in this pathological orientation we live about, The radical separation between the human world and the natural world, the dependence on technology, the mindsets of ‘unlimited resources’ , unexamined consumptions and unattended consequences. We all have a common misconception of being separated. but we were all once nothing but mere stardust, if we just realize the sheer significance of our inter-connectivity, we can make a difference.

" This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of Nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy "

- George Bernard Shaw
